Tana Gargalianos, BSN, RN, IBCLC

She/Her/Hers

Tana is a registered nurse with more than a decade of experience. She has cared for individuals and families in medical/surgical, critical care, forensic, labor and delivery, and postpartum nursing. Since 2015, she has spent her career helping families navigate the precious first moments with their babies in the hospital or the home setting. She earned her title as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2020, and now guides families after coming home from the hospital, who are continuing their breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and breast milk feeding journey. In addition to breastfeeding support, in other professional roles, Tana is a perinatal educator, facilitating group classes where she prepares expectant parents to care for themselves and their baby or babies. This includes labor education, infant care, breastfeeding/chestfeeding, and important safety education.

Tana is married and has two children. Her personal breastfeeding experience was not without challenges. Those challenges fueled her desire to help parents deal with the difficulties that may come with feeding, and she is passionate about delivering trauma informed lactation care with the parent’s personal goals always in mind. With these goals carefully considered, Tana will help you assess your situation, and work with you to come up with a plan to best nourish your baby and support the needs of both of you, as well as your family as a whole. She is ready to give you the evidence informed support that you need, with gentle care, in the comfort of your own home.

Client Testimonials

“I cannot express how thankful I am that I was connected with Tana. As a first time mom, I was trying to breastfeed and ended up with a great deal of inflammation and clogged ducts that left me in debilitating pain. I was referred to Tana by my doula and I’m so grateful. Tana was able to come to my home to provide care- which made life much easier with a newborn. Tana immediately made me feel incredibly comfortable and was supportive of what was best for my family. I appreciated that she was open and understanding to what my wishes were and flexible in adjusting my plan. I never felt judged for decisions I was making regarding breastfeeding, but rather felt supported in everything I was saying and in all the ways I was feeling. Not only was Tana present for our appointments but she also checked in on me regularly between appointments – it’s very apparent that she cares for her clients and has a passion for helping women with lactation. Tana helped me through the most difficult part of my postpartum journey and I’d highly recommend her to anybody looking for a lactation consultant who is not only knowledgeable but compassionate and understanding.”

"I reached out to Tana at such a low point in my postpartum breastfeeding journey. I was having so many problems with latching consistently and comfortably, and breastfeeding was causing me so much stress and discomfort that it was physically, mentally and emotionally draining me completely. I felt extremely vulnerable and frustrated. To say I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when Tana first visited us is an understatement!

She was helpful, patient, supportive, knowledgeable and kind. Perhaps most importantly, she wasn’t judgmental — I didn’t feel like I was being tested or judged during her visits, and I truly appreciated that at a time when my emotions and hormones were already making me feel generally terrible.

Tana’s support didn’t end after her visits: She continued to communicate and offer support when I needed reminders about how to do a certain hold, for example, and she sent me video examples that were so helpful.

I am so grateful that we found Tana and I’d absolutely recommend her to all the mamas out there!"

"Tana was truly a Godsend! I was on the verge of giving up breastfeeding 2 weeks postpartum, despite desperately wanting to make it work. I was in so much pain and I didn’t know what else to do. I finally decided to see a lactation consultant and it was a huge plus that she came straight to our home. Tana was so comforting and gave me some great tips to help with latching my baby properly and what to look for to make sure she was getting enough. Within a few days of taking her suggestions, I was no longer in pain and I now truly love breastfeeding so much. I wouldn’t trade this bonding experience with my daughter for the world, and I’m so grateful Tana helped me get there!"
